At Darr-Schackow Insurance, safety is our top priority. That’s why we highly recommend home security systems. Security systems are a great investment to protect your family and belongings.

Ask yourself these questions before choosing the system that’s right for you:

  1. What kind of neighborhood do you live in and how much security do you want? The style of neighborhood you live in can affect how much security you may want. For instance,  if you live in a gated community, you may not need as much security as a home that is located in a rural area.
  2. How much are you willing to pay for that security? The amount of money you are willing to pay for a system is one of the biggest factors. Security systems are a great investment, and, like all things, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it.
  3. Do you want a monitored or unmonitored system? Monitored systems - systems that are monitored by a monitoring company 24 hours a day - are more expensive than unmonitored systems - systems that just emit a piercing alarm to scare away burglars and notify homeowners that the system has been disturbed. The decision to have your system professionally installed or do it yourself can also play into the overall cost.
  4. Are you a renter or homeowner? Whether you are a renter or homeowner plays a large role in your decision. If you are a renter, you may want a wireless security system, so you can take it with you when you move. Homeowners will probably want a more stable option, like a hardwired system. Security cameras add layers of protection to your home or business and give you the ability to see what’s going on in your home, whether you are out of town or just sitting on the couch.

These days, home security is more convenient than ever with mobile access. You can turn your system on and off, lock and unlock doors, receive security alerts, watch video surveillance, and control lighting and thermostat settings with your smartphone, tablet or computer.

With all the home security options available to you, we at Darr-Schackow Insurance think there is no reason not to protect yourself. If you need further guidance on security systems or a home insurance plan, give us a call. Let Darr-Schackow simplify it.
