The state of the economy is causing insurance companies to remove coverage that is very important.  Some of the companies we represent are removing the sinkhole coverage at the renewal which is decreasing the premium of their home insurance.  That sounds good to some folks that are having trouble paying their bills.  At the same time, the company is raising the base rates of insurance.  The renewal premium then is roughly the same as last year, only WITHOUT the sinkhole coverage.  It is important for you to work with your agent to review coverage on a regular basis.  You may be receiving a call from your agent to discuss these changes.
